What Makes Good Content?
by Annie Cooley
I have been thinking about the art of producing good content and what
elements are involved. I turned to my blog roll and past Swiftpage
articles and here is what I came up with:
- Good content doesn’t sell it teaches.
- Bad content has no hook, no call to action.
- Good content is useful to party involved.
- Bad content distracts from the point.
- Good content answers pressing questions and encourages progress.
- Bad content has run on sentences and long paragraphs.
- Good content must have personality that entertains.
- Bad content has no structure.
- Good content is reader friendly.
- Bad content is company centered, not recipient centered.
- Good content must have a consistent voice.
- Bad content has misleading incentives.
- Good content must start with a good, no great headline.
- Bad content pushes your product too much.
- Good content doesn’t forget search engine optimization.
- Bad content does not hold a specific position or voice.
- Good content thinks about the reader first.
- Bad content has not been edited.
- Good content produces positive results.
What else? What do you believe make good content?
