In Saleslogix versions 7.5.4 and 8.0, we introduced a new cache server. This server is designed to take NHibernate object data and make it available for multiple web servers hosting Saleslogix portals, expanding the pool of cache available to your web servers exponentially. This also allows you to move the cache server to its own dedicated server if the demand is high enough, taking load off your web servers.
The cache server installs by default on Saleslogix web hosts and all web portals will point to 127.0.0.1:11211 if not configured differently, which means the portals will use local cache server out-of-the-box. Configuring a portal to point to a different server is as easy as modifying the Web.config file to include the IP address (or hostname) of the server you’d like to use as your cache server and opening up communication ports (11211) between the servers. To find details on configuration, see the application architect help files under “Configuring the Saleslogix Cache Server”.
