xbar tickets and opportunities

Status: Under Consideration
by Copper Contributor on ‎07-31-2014 05:04 AM

Hi all,

When using the xbar and you click on an email you have sent or received, it will show you the list of contacts in the xbar pane.

If you pick one of the contacts (e.g. John Abbott) there is a ticket and opportunity icon underneath their name.

If you click one of these icons it only shows you the tickets or opportunities that currently have the status as 'Open'.

This causes issues as some clients have other status's such as 'Under Investigation' so looking at the contact in the xbar shows this contact has no tickets or opportunities when they actually do.

The xbar needs to have the ability to show tickets and opportunities that have different status's other than just 'Open'.

The REAL issue is that xBar is not customizable.. therefore these types of issues will be poping up over.. and over.. and over..

On top of that.. we have not received any briefing as to what type of customization capablities and/or when (if ever) we will get.

Comments??.. agree or disagree about xBar customization?

I agree, I had a customer recently that was ready to start using Xbar and were poised to upgrade just to get it but backed out when I told them it wasn't customisable. They're still upgrading but are disapointed they won't be able to have their customisations reflected.

Jake raises a good point too, especially when it comes to tickets and customer service. Xbar only shows "open" tickets. Even the eval system has a ticket status of "In Process", which means that any ticket currently under investigation will be invisible in Xbar until the full SLX client is opened.

@Sam... ALL my customers that are at 8.x need some level of customization done (toxBar) before I can deploy it. SO until we can do so.. xBar deployment is off teh table for them (and me.. I don't use it either.. except in a demo system ;-)

There's ONE saving element here.. just ONE... the fact that the data is SData driven so we can build some business rules and use the security mechanisms...  BUT it applies to ALL SData clients/apps.. an that can be a BIG problem if you use SData for integration as well..

Jake has a really good story with a specific, measurable goal. We will definitely capture that for a future update.

"Customization" can have many different meanings to many different people which makes it difficult to define and measure success. What are the specific stories we can address to improve the experience for you and your customers? More details will translate to more accurate and timely solutions.

Customization in the pure technical sense has only one mmeaning... as in the same way we can customize mobility, etc.. having FULL access to the source code.. just put it up on Githib and it solves everything ;-)

Anything else is just marketing.

The specific example I can give is regarding the aforementioned customer that backed out of Xbar.

This customer has aftermarket opportunities and standard opportunities. They're held in two seperate entities. They also have a large number of additional fields on these entities so we'd need to be able to add their msot important fields in too.

AS RJLedger suggested, releasing the source on Github will allow us to read it over and make our own customisation changes.

Here's what I have to capture complete customization:

As a Business Partner,

I need full access to the Xbar source code

So that I can provide complete customization to my customers.

I will certainly present this but source code changes are generally not upgrade safe which means this story conflicts with the auto version update story. As mentioned earlier, more specific stories will have a better chance of making it into the product.

Regarding Sam's aftermarket opportunities, where in the product should this be included? For instance, are you looking at having both opportunity entities represented in a single KPI or are you looking to add KPIs based on custom entities? Or, is there a completely different view in Xbar that this story needs to reside? I know having it available "everywhere" is most preferred but that can be too ambiguous to ensure we meet the customer's requirements.

We all modify the "source" to Windows/LAN (forms/scripts), the web app (C#, etc), Mobility (have FULL access to the source) - why should xBar be protected from changes?

There's not a single Saleslogix product (except for the current ExchangeLink) that is "upgrade safe". If it is the intent to keep xBar "locked down" then please tell us (partners and customers).
