Predefined lookup filter in Complete E-mail dialog for current account (Desktop Manager)

Hi all,


If you want to link an outlook e-mail to an existing ticket/opportunity using the desktop manager (Send SLX or Create History Record) you have to enter the company, ticket ID or opportunity description or something like that everytime to get some results.

It would be great if there is a predefined filter for the current account (account of from-contact) that shows all open opportunities or tickets concerning that account.

The problem is with the current desktop integration, when you use the SendSLX function it knows for sure to attach to an account and contact. There should only be one contact in the database with that email address so it's a fairly safe bet users can fire the send slx button and forget. It's been working well.


The problem with tickets and opps is that you can have many open opportunities and tickets against one contact. How will the system know that the email you're sending is in regards to the contacts' open ticket rather than the contacts' currently open opportunity? To allow for this, Infor would need to overhaul desktop integration which i can't see them doing any time soon.


I feel your pain and know the frustration. I've bene asked about this on a couple of occassions but without replicating exactly the same technology as Dynamics CRM where you "track" emails and set what they'r regarding, I can't think of an easily workable solution. (And trust me, MSCRM track functionality comes with its own issues.)


That's my take on this anyway.

no the idea is not to fill in an open ticket or opportunity automatically. What i mean is that if the complete email window appears, i want to open the lookup for ticket/opportunity and then i can choose the actual open ticket/opportunity directly. Without having to enter some values in the lookup first.


Actually i have to enter some search values, because the results grid is empty. It would be great if there are listed the open records.


In 95% of all emails we have to link to an ticket or opportunity the email concerns to an open item. So i just have to pick out the right one after clicking on the lookup.
