We use KnowledgeSync for alerts and some of the alerts have embedded links that automatically open SLX to the record when the user clicks on them. This works fine with the LAN client, even with windows authentication enabled, whether SLX is open or not the LAN client opens to the correct record. Does anyone know how to do this in the Web client or if it's even possible?

Authentication may be an issue, but you should be able to send a link similar to:
In the example shown above, If you have a valid session, and if the browser that process the link is the same one where you have that open session, it may not prompt for login and just direct the user to that account, otherwise the user will be prompted for his/.her login information and then would be redirected to the account record shown above.
Replace the Page Name according to your Entity's Page Name.

That works fine when the browser's open and logged into SLX, but when not open it's going to bring up the login screen and most of our users don't know their password becuase they've never had to use it.

You need to make Windows authentication the default. We have our system configured to force windows authentication and these links work for us without having to sign on. Go to the help section titled "
ConfiguringWindowsAuthForWin2008" (or 2003) at the bottom of the page is a section called "Restrict Web Client users from logging on if the user is not found in Sage SalesLogix" follow the steps listed there and all Saleslogix links will use Windows Authentication.
P.S. I have not figured out a good way to do this an still enable users to sign in as ADMIN without knowing the WebDLL password. I ended up creating a parallel website with its own web.config file for the Sdata portal that runs on a different port.
