Hi RJ,

No, it's working.  There is a 24 hour time limit for editing posts and that may be what you're running in to.  Are you trying to edit a post that is less than 24 hours old?  If so, please send me the specific thread URL and I'll check into it further. 

You can send me or one of our moderators a PM to edit a post older than 24 hours.

Yep.. it was over 24hrs old.. I wanted to correct some spelling errors.

Any reason for disabling after 24 hrs?

I'm not sure what the time limit reason is. However, in other forums, once people start responding to a thread, it can become a huge problem if the original author goes back and correct's the post. It then looks like the responders don't know what they're responding to.
