Under what conditions is SQL Server 2012 x64 supported?

I have an existing SQL Server 2012 64 bit edition installed, and when I tried to run the SLX setup and Install SQL Databases, the 64 bit instance did not show up, even after adding a DSN.

I installed 32 bit side by side with it, and voila.

Our proposed architecture will involve a separate DB server of course; this is for proof of concept, and we want to ensure that we can install a 64 bit version of SS and have it work OOTB with SLX.

The June 2014 compatibility document does not specify anything explicitly about DB - just that 2012 is supported. And I've seen some posts that appear to point to x64 2012, but it isnt clear if this is qualified or unsupported.

Which version ? Supported (any bitness) from v8.1. But, also works with earlier versions provided you use earlier version of native client (which is compatible e.g. NC 2008 will work with 2012).

Not sure by what you mean by DSN ?

Also, only v8.1 attachdb works - but, no matter, just don't do this as part of install, do it manually after install.

Yep, working with 8.1. I could not get the 64 bit instance to show. Let me make sure I am comparing apples to apples with installed features.

Bitness shouldn't make a difference to visibility. I've installed SQL2012 and v8.1 and didn't notice any issues (64bit always).
