Using SalesLogix security for your own web pages

by garnold ‎10-18-2010 04:43 AM - edited ‎10-18-2010 04:46 AM

Did you know that placing web pages within your SalesLogix website adds a level of security to them? A page that lives inside your SalesLogix website would now requires a user to log into SalesLogix in order for them to see it. Pretty cool right?

For a POC I was required to create an approval workflow page. The idea was that from an opportunity the user could click a button and send out an email to someone. This email would offer the recipent links to view the opportuntiy and also approve or disapprove it. Doing this was very easy with all the great tools SalesLogix has to offer (and is also available as a bundle on my website) but I needed to make sure that only SalesLogix users could access this approval page.

All I needed to do was place my pages within my existing SalesLogix website and the job was finished!

Now when ever anyone tries to get to my approval site they will be required to log into SalesLogix. Also note in the picture below that since I have now been logged in I can access all the killer tools that SalesLogix offers. In this example I'm looking up an opportunity via standard search methods that you use all the time. Now how killer is that! Here is the code that I used to find the opportunity, should look pretty formilure to you right....

Sage.Entity.Interfaces.IOpportunity oppo = Sage.Platform.EntityFactory.GetById<Sage.Entity.Interfaces.IOpportunity>(Session["opportunityId"]);

 and here is a picture of what the approval page looks like....

Hope you found this helpful. Oh, and I'm hoping to see all my partners at Boot Camp so we can "Geek Out" for an entire week!!
