#Support #Tip of the Month: How to recognize & resolve “XMLSchema” corruption issues

by Employee on ‎06-26-2014 03:37 PM

The XMLSCHEMA plugin is referenced by several areas of Saleslogix functionality. These include the Saleslogix and Web Client’s Query Builder, Mail Merge, and Database Manager.  This is essentially a complete copy of the Saleslogix database schema including a listing of all tables and fields, join information, and query groups available.  Even the slightest corruption of this file will cause Saleslogix to begin throwing random and unusual errors that do not respond to common troubleshooting methods.

Steps from a support call where XMLSchema needed to be rebuilt:

While logging into Saleslogix Web Client the following error pops:

We're sorry, you've encountered an error. If applicable, please try again. HTTP status: Internal Server Error (500).

  • Has never occurred on this site before
  • User is unaware of any “configuration changes” since the last time the user logged into the Web Client. (Watch out for older databases being upgraded to 8.1)
  • Able to access the SData adapters page
  • Occurs logged in as any User, including Admin
  • Occurs in I.E., Chrome and FireFox
  • Set the Released and Dev fields for the Sales and My Dashboard tabs to F (issue appeared to be related to the dashboard): No Help
  • Ensured the HISTORY: My Notes group is shared to everyone in the Architect and unreleased and released the My Notes group (error in Event Viewer referred to this group): No help
  • Reinstalled the Core and Model 03 bundles in the AA, rebuilt and deployed: No help
  • Deleted the Web user defaults: No help

Resolution: Deleted and recreated the XMLSCHEMA and we are now not getting errors

For Detailed information on rebuilding the XMLSchema, log on to the customer or partner portal and search for “How to rebuild “XMLSchema” or for KB Article # 1300429794.
