How to recognize and resolve Saleslogix Xbar Installation Issues

You have a problem if:

 

  • Xbar does not show up in Outlook
    • UAC was on during install
    • Local user did not have proper permissions to install (Local Administrator)
  • Xbar does not show up in Programs and Features (in Windows 7 & 8, or Server 2008)
    • UAC was on during install
    • Local user did not have proper permissions to install (Local Administrator)
  • You are not running Office 2010/2013
    • Xbar will not load
  • You are not running Saleslogix 8.0 or 8.1
    • Returns a connection error
  • You tried to install from a mapped drive
    • Must move the .zip file to a local machine
  • You’re using the Outlook Web Application
  • You don’t have a functioning Web environment and SData portal

If I was in the beta, do I need to reinstall Xbar?

You will need to remove the beta version, and then install the release version.

 

I’m getting an “Unable to Create New Contact/Account” error.

This occurs when the user in question does not have sufficient access in Saleslogix to create Contacts or Accounts.

 

Xbar doesn’t seem to be loading properly. It just spins continuously.

This can happen if the connection to the server is broken, or if you’ve tried to change the Saleslogix password while using Xbar.
