Content is King! #saleslogix

One of the buzz words in marketing  right now is content marketing.  But what is “content marketing”?

 

This term means a lot of different things to different people.  According to Wikepedia:  

 

Content marketing is an umbrella term encompassing all marketing formats that involve the creation or sharing of content for the purpose of engaging current and potential consumer bases.

 

In English, content marketing is creating relevant pieces of information, i.e.. white papers, eBooks, videos, webcasts etc. about subject matters that your customers and prospects care about.  Subjects that will interest them, inspire them, help their business be more successful with your products or just overall.

 

We are all familiar with the good old white paper, straight forward, informative and frankly a little dry. The white paper used to be the holy grail of content delivery. But nowadays, content takes on many forms and many different personalities while still remaining informative and useful. Other types of content are:

 

  • eBooks (the sexy big sister to the white paper)
  • webcasts/webinars/podcasts (live or on demand)
  • videos
  • virtual events
  • emagazines
  • web pages/websites

Yet, with all of these different types of content, a marketer has to wonder:

 

  • How do my customers want relevant content delivered to them?
  • What subjects do they want to hear about?

There are two simple ways to answer to that question.

 

First, be a thought leader. Look at your industry and what topics are facing your business and your customers, and create a leadership piece about that subject. It could even be something as simple as a top 10 list of how to’s about a subject matter or your product, but most of all make it something that can help them and in turn help solidify your relationship with them.

Second, Ask them! Use the marketing avenues that are available to you and start a dialog with your customers and prospects and ask them what they want to hear about from you. Find out what types of information they are turning you for and deliver it.

 

Great content can have so many benefits. Fostering customer and prospect relationships, driving brand awareness and ultimately new business by providing useful information to the market place.

  • What kind of content would you like to see?
  • What subjects would you like for us to provide content about?

Ask as you shall receive. We want to hear from you and begin that one-on-on dialog that will help us better create content that will help you be more successful. Don’t be shy. It can be product related, industry related or just general business questions/topics.

More Professor Crumblehorn video positioning SalesLogix and differentiating it from it's main competitors.  We use those extensively.
