Change is Coming--Community Upgrade Scheduled

by kjosephs ‎04-09-2010 10:39 AM - edited ‎04-12-2010 09:29 AM

We have great news.  New enhancements are scheduled to roll out in our Sage SalesLogix Community April 27th.

We have been working with Lithium, our community hosting provider, to prepare for an upgrade to the latest version.  There are some great changes that you will absolutely love.  The user interface to create articles and post new threads handles copy and paste so much better.  For those of you sharing information from existing documents,  presentations, or just wanting to copy an image into your message, you will be so happy!  Ok, you will probably mutter something like, "it's about time!"  And, then you will likely do it again, just to make sure you didn't imagine it.

Here are a few more changes you can expect:

  • Updated look and  feel
  • Improved navigation (such as quick reply and preference settings)
  • Unread discussion display --Yes, really!
  • Auto-save Drafts
  • Enhanced search capability

There have been many comments and concerns around the search capability as it exists today.  In the next release, we have a new feature called Search 2.0.  I have included a screen shot and a FAQ to provide you some information on this change.  Should we adopt Search 2.0, our existing Advanced Search capabilities will be  replaced.  So, we would love to have a few volunteers test the new Search Capability and put it to the test.  If you are interested, please leave a comment on this article, and we will follow up with you.  We will start considering candidates next week.

We look forward to hearing your feedback as we move to this new release.

Thanks,

Kim

Good to see improvements - yes, count me in on the search capabilities.

Point Of Information:

We all should be using "tagging" a lot more (I do 99% of the time ;-)  in order to make it easier to find things. Using teh same set of tags for the same things really helps. I know that when I add a tag it's a little smart and shows me tags that start w/the same text (ex: key in "V" and you see a drop list of tags that start w/ v (no case sensitivity here!)).

The only problem is this only works on the original post or an edited post. It does not work on "add tag". Looks like a bug to me.

This sounds good.

Do you know if they changed the Kudo links so that screen readers can now see the button to give Kudos?

I would realy love to see that so that I can give them to good posts.

Hi Alexander,

I know you've been patiently waiting for this functionality and anxious to give out Kudos.  Yes, we have been told that this should be working in the new version. Of course we'd like to hear from you to ensure that is working as it should be after the upgrade.

Thanks,

Tawny

RJ,

Thanks for the comment on tagging.  I haven't had much time to play around with it in the new version, as our test site doesn't have much content in it.  We hope to push over some live content to get a better feel for the real experience when we test.  I hope this is improved for you as well.
