Bootcamp Preparation - work, more work, and some fun too!

With Boot Camp only a few weeks away we are all busy preparing sessions for the week. The past few days I have been working on SData, Mobile, and even Windows 8 apps. The amount of information that gets packed into a short 4 days is impressive. My favorite sessions to work on so far are the Job Service calls from Mobile and the Mashup calls from Mobile. While these aren’t things that will be done every day by SalesLogix developers, they show how to do some interesting custom changes in SalesLogix Mobile 2.0.

JavaScript is a big part of a lot of what we are doing this year at Boot Camp. This year we have a JavaScript fundamentals session planned where attendees can see how we code and debug JavaScript and share their own experiences. With most mobile customizations being JavaScript, Activity customizations being JavaScript, and many of the customizations inside the web client being possible with JavaScript, JavaScript has continued to be an increasingly important skill for any developer. We will all leave Boot Camp knowing more about JavaScript

I am excited to see what the other presenters are bringing to Boot Camp too. Phil Meyer is showing how to add a custom control (a text area with formatting controls) to AA and render it on the web. AA has a lot of controls for us to use, but there is always a new chart or custom control that fits our needs in a specific situation. It will be great to learn how to get those controls into the web client.

What about the fun? Of course we have the usual amount of activities planned after hours as well as some fun breaks in between sessions. When you come to Boot Camp it is as much collaboration as it is a way for Sage to show the partners what is new, cool, and how to accomplish business tasks. Bring suggestions. We have an entire session planned where attendees can make suggestions, ask questions about the product otherwise not specifically covered in a session, or just say anything they want. Bring some notes and share, collaborate, and learn.

Thanks for the update Jason.  Looking forward again to the boot camp sessions and learning activity from the group!
