Beta - Is It Your Kettle of Fish?

by Employee ‎06-29-2012 10:12 AM - edited ‎06-29-2012 10:14 AM

Most of our Sage SalesLogix Business Partners know that v8.0 is currently in beta. The Sage SalesLogix Beta Program is an integral part of achieving Sage’s goals of quality and exceptional customer experience. Have you ever considered participating in a beta program?

What is Beta?

Beta is among the final stages of testing before a product is released to the market. In a beta test, key customers and partners subject the new features and enhancements to the rigors of real-world usage. The goals include uncovering technical or usability issues that may not become apparent in the more controlled environment of the Quality Assurance lab, and verifying existing functionality continues to work as expected.

Why Participate in Beta?

As a beta tester, your testing and recommendations enable you to have a direct impact on current quality, as well as usability and new features in future Sage SalesLogix releases. You can be among the first to see the latest software developments to come from Sage SalesLogix. Plus you'll get the opportunity to be hands-on with new features and technology before anyone else.

Are You a Beta Candidate?

Beta candidates possess a unique skill set and qualifications — not everyone is a beta candidate.

  • Time:  Can you spend time installing, using, and reporting problems found in beta software?
  • Experience:  Can you install and test client/server and Internet-based software without final documentation and support?
  • Tech Resources:  Do you have equipment to run beta software in a controlled environment, completely separate from your production environment?
  • Patience:  Do you enjoy the challenge of overcoming errors, bugs, and idiosyncratic product behavior?
  • Multi-Lingual:  If testing a localized version, are you a native speaker of the language you will test and are you able to correspond with us in English?
  • Beta Agreement:  Are you willing to sign an agreement agreeing to adhere to beta policies?

If you answered yes to these questions, consider signing up for Sage’s beta test program. Contact your Business Partner or Sage Representative for more information.

A Word about the Rules of Beta

Beta software is a pre-release version of a Sage product. You accept the product “as is” and “with all faults”. It must only be deployed in a test environment. Deployment into a production environment can result in data loss. Due to the developmental nature of the product, you are advised and agree to back-up and preserve your existing contact management system, including all data files and programs (if any). Sage is in no way responsible or liable for data loss that may occur as the result of deploying a pre-release version of a product into a production environment.

Who do I need to contact in the BETA team to have one my customers participate?

I'm new to the program and I want to understand the process.
