New Idea

Currently, Office 2010 is not supported (and Intelli-Sync does not work), and there is no version even scheduled to support it.  We need to get SLX working with the current version of office asap.

32 bit office supported 64 bit under consideration.

My users might be finding difficulty with this because we just converted from the LAN version to the web version.  But, when inserting a new contact/account/opportunity, users are able to navigate away from the Insert page without being prompted to save.  Sometimes they are in the middle of adding something and then get pulled away and have to come back.  They may forget what they are in the middle of and when they navigate away, they lose all of their information.  I think if a user navigates away from the Insert page, they should be prompted or notified that they will lose data if they continue.

Group Tab Sort Order

Groups should sort on the group name and not on the display name

Looking at adding a favorites feature including personalizing the order.

I hate when I have to locate a ticket activity I just barely got through adding in the web client. I just got through adding it, but I have to still page through pages and pages of activities looking for it. The ticket activities grid doesn't appear to have any kind of default sort to the data. It's not even in database order. To make it worse, I cannot click on the date column to sort the entries by the date so I get my new entry at the first or end of the list.

 

This sort of stuff is way to common in the web client and it makes me hate to use it.

 

Please, add a meaningful default to any and all grids in the client. If it is a list of data of some kind, there will be some reasonable way users will expect to see it sorted (usually by some kind of date value). Also, I realize that it takes several more clicks to make the columns sortable as well (we work in the same set of tools too), but please make the effort to ensure that grids are sortable in the client.

Status: Delivered in 8.0
Each grid is now scrollable, each grid can now be sorted by column and each grid now has a default sort order. Each grid will save its personalized state across sessions using local storage.

Better resizing of editable grids

Currently in SLX 8.1 Web the editable grids are not automatically resized to the size needed by the amount of data.

The effect is, that e.g. the group list in the detail view is often too large, if you only have a group open with about two records.

An other place where you can see this is, when you drag a tab in the middle, having an editable grid on it with only 1 or 2 rows.

The tabs consumes much more space than it needs.

We need the grid to resize automatically so the user can use the space on the screen more effectively and reduce scrolling, especially in detail view tih group list and commen tasks.

Desktop Integration Auto Updater

It would be really convenient if the SalesLogix Desktop Integration had a built in feature to automatically check for updates.

 

For large implementations, after a Web Update has been applied (that affects the Desktop Integration), its a fairly involved task to get IT to have to either push out the updated version of the EXE or to get every user to install it manually.

 

It would be nice if the Desktop Integration had an option box that would "Automatically Check for Updates" and if checked, it would check the local SalesLogix URL to see if an updated version of the EXE is available. I can't imagine this will be very difficult to build since the portal URL is already set in the Desktop Integration settings.

User Login Tracking

We have had several clients ask for the ability to track statistics related to when a user logged in and how long they were active.

 

They find this valuable because it helps upper management see the usage and value of SalesLogix.

 

Conversely if for some reason certain users are not active, it helps identify them so they can be trained better and encouraged to use SalesLogix.

 

The ability to export this data to excel would be ideal.

 


Outlook Sync - Details

WIth the new Outlook Sync, The activity syncs across with notes and subject, however none of the account and or contact details are synced over.

 

If you only have access to Outlook then the activity information is of very little value.

 

Could we please have the Account & Contact details sync over.

WEB: Activity form - jump link to Contact, Account, etc.

Hi,

 

LAN: open an activity and you had clickable links to jump to the related contact, account, etc.

WEB 8.0, 8.1: open an activity and you can only mouseover the related contact, account, etc. and get some basic infos.

 

The LAN solution would also be preferred in WEB. Thank you.

Dynamic Documentation

With all the constant changes with SalesLogix (CUs, SNCs, Web Updates) as well as changes in Browsers and Operating systems we frequently find that the SalesLogix Implementation Guide is either not updated with the latest information, or could use additional information that covers scenarios when things do not work as documented.

 

So my idea is that the implementation guide or other documents should be hosted online in a more easily updatable format (like a Wiki) so it can actually be kept up to date with the very latest information.

 

If SalesLogix Support encounters a specific issue with say Windows Server 2012 while configuring the Synchronization Job, they could easily add a line to the document that states what a possible fix is to make it work.

 

BPs and Users could also provide additional feedback based on their experience with an issue they encountered during an implementation that would help others if they run into the same issue.

 

I think documentation like this would go a long way in helping everyone resolve commonly found issues.

Merge and Move Opportunities

It would be nice to be able to merge Opportunities or move them from one Account to another. 

 

We often have the problem that Company A calls us for a system and we open an Opportunity with them.  Then Company B calls us for the same system and we realize that both are bidding on a system for Company C.  If we already have two Opps opened at Company A and Company B we'd like to merge them, and put them all under Company C since that's where the equipment will eventually end up.  Although we may not have direct contact with Company C now, they will be the ones likely calling in the future for spare parts, service, etc. so we really care more about them than the other two and feel the Opportunity really belongs there.

The standard query builder when you add a new group is quite daunting for most standard users and finding the relevant fields can be quite difficult if you don't know the database structure - e.g. seccodeID field gives no clue that it is actually the owner field.

 

in 7.5.3 web client - filtering is a great way of getting to the data you need quickly and easily without having to build a query. However once you have filtered the data you can create a group but it is a static group and not dynamic.

 

I think a great way of building simple dynamic groups very quickly and easily (without having to use query builder) would be to have another common task option called Save records as a dynamic  group. This option, would create a new group with the existing group conditions plus the new conditions you have applied with the filter automatically to the conditions of the query.

 

This would free up administrators from having to create simple groups for users who are not comfortable with the create groups function (which is most of the users in our organisation).

With the advent of the new reporting in Saleslogix v8.1.0 and being able to store the history, the generated report, and scheduling reports in the Web client, this is a fantastic improvement.  However, I think there needs to be a few tweaks to it that would make it even better:

 

- I noticed that the generated reports are thrown under the root of the logging path for Saleslogix.  On installations that do not have a sync server, this path is not available as a settable option and gets thrown to the C drive on the server.  Give us an option like Library and Attachments to be able to specify where the generated reports go.  It would also help if someone were trying to grab a generated report and attach it to the record or compose an e-mail and include it to be able to read the path, the generated name, and grab the file

 

- Provide tools to clean up generated reports based on criteria like Scheduled By, Run date, file size, etc... to allow administrators the ability to clean up the generated files and not store them indefinitely.

 

- Potentially add the ability to set retention times based on user or globally and functionality to sweep based on this setting and clean up the history and generated file(s)

 

I will take what has been provided, but in working on customizations for clients, these "nice-to-haves" come up on almost every installation.

When a user sends an email using the SendSLX button in Outlook and the contact is not found in the SLX database, they receive a notification popup and are only give the option to click OK to close the message.  It would be nice if there was an option to open the site (we use the web version) and have a new contact page open with the email address pre-populated.  The user would then need to choose the account and finish adding the remaining information.  Upon saving, the email should be added to the History for that contact.

SLXMobile needs to be an 'App'

Before you crucify me, I'm not advocating writing the SLXMobile in native iPad, iPhone, et al languages....

 

What I'm suggesting (the idea) is that the SLXMobile Icon needs to appear in my list \ pages of iconized Apps on my mobile device.....click\touch the app and it automagically launches the supported browser, goes to the stored settings URL, etc.

 

We need to get beyond the open the browser, type in a URL, type in a UserName password login info stuff....KISS for the user, it's what they're used to (LinkedIn, FaceBook, et al), and it's much easier when on a train to downtown. One Thumb operation to get to the SLXMobile App Icon, click on it, presented with your Account list (or what have you).

 

AND

 

You can download the app and Search for it in the app store (did someone say MARKETING?). Reviews, hits, buzz, etc.

Desktop Manager (drag and drop) using Chrome

Due to the overall performance and user preference of Chrome within SLX customers have been requesting support for the Desktop Manager drag and drop functionality. Can this be put forward please.

Hi all,

 

If you want to link an outlook e-mail to an existing ticket/opportunity using the desktop manager (Send SLX or Create History Record) you have to enter the company, ticket ID or opportunity description or something like that everytime to get some results.

It would be great if there is a predefined filter for the current account (account of from-contact) that shows all open opportunities or tickets concerning that account.

Have a more compact view in slx

We are currently in the process of updating a lot of customers from 7.5.4 to 8.0.

Many of them have a lot of fields on their detail view. What all of them say is, that they need to scroll more in 8.0 than in 7.5.4.

So I would like to see a more compact view mode in slx like we had it in 7.5.4.

This can be an option which every user can enable but it would help them a lot to make their daily work with slx easier.

With more and more companies moving towards externally hosted solutions for their email, Sage should look at creating a more robust solution to allow for integration with SalesLogix and an externally hosted email solution, such as Google Mail.

 

The current out-dated SalesLogix Mail Client does not allow SSL encryption that is required by most externally hosted mail solutions.  The idea here is to not have an externally hosted back end with a familiar "outlook-esque" front end, but rather to embrace the functionality that  an externally host solution gives its users without having to pigeonhole the user in a UI that is weak and has limited functionality.
