Duplicate Check for SendSLX

I've seen this on a few customer sites now.


Outlook integration with SalesLogix is heavily used by many of our customers and rightly so. What we find though is that there are often multiple instances of the same email that seem to turn up in notes/history. Often this because the user has clicked "SendSLX" twice, three times or more.


Can an option be added to the function that allows the user to system to check if the email exists in the database already and if it does, ignore the last SendSLX button press? It's a surefire duplicate if the Originaldate, Accountid and Subject are the same.

Sunset Application Architect

Having worked with both the pre-v7 web administrator and the Application Architect (AA), it is my understanding that AA was supposed to allow administrators, who are not necessarily coders, to customize the web client. To this end, AA is supposed to simplify the process by providing a visual IDE de-emphasizing code and library management. Anyone who has worked with AA knows that code and library management are significantly obscured in the interface. However, this strategy totally misses the objective of simplifying the process, due to the complexity in handling the build and deployment of the web app itself. The huge range of potential errors, and the inherent difficulty in troubleshooting them, puts the level of required technical ability well out of the reach of non-developers for all but the most basic of customizations (and sometimes not even those). On the other hand, AA is a poor IDE for experienced developers due to the aforementioned “dumbing-down” treatment it received. Some shortcomings include: no dedicated library management system; no source control; out-of-box functionality is obscured (although accessible using external tools); weak logging, tracing and debugging; weak IIS integration and deployment management; fussy compile-time error handling; application-level options are obscured; no build options (debug/release); painful upgrades due to inability to diff/merge customizations; and overall (rampant) instability, sometimes resulting in file integrity issues and broken builds. In summary, AA would need major improvements, one way or the other, to be successful in either role. In the “non-developer” role, some customizations can already be managed through the v8 web client Form Manager, presumably to be rolled into the Infor platform/framework at some point. Currently, the “developer” role remains underserved. My question: wouldn’t it make more sense to manage the web platform as a Visual Studio project, taking advantage of prebuilt library management, debugging and web deployment, and source control tools? Resources committed to further AA development would be freed. Critical AA functionality such as NHibernate entity management could then be parted out to other admin tools or to VS plugins. Resources committed to AA documentation could be applied to API and SDK development. At the very least, a roadmap for ISVs and developer partners could drum up some goodwill.

Please bring back GotoSLX !

See here for reasoning: It's very much a missed feature. Whilst xbar has the functionality it requires (a) installing and (b) for customers to want to use it. When GotoSLX was available it was part of slmn.dll (not slxotlXX.dll) so was always installed. Would be great if the feature could be restored. Thanks!

XBar Open Ticket Criteria

The XBar allows you to see if the contact has open tickets, and if yes, to see the list of those open tickets and maintain those tickets, in XBar.  Excellent!


In the Saleslogix Windows and Web client, the criteria for the groups of open tickets is status <> "closed", which is correct to me.  However, the criteria in XBar seems to be status = "open", as it does not show "in progress" or other status values we have added to the pick list.  So many open tickets we consider open don't show up in the XBar.


My request, at a minimum, is the open ticket criteria in XBar be changed to match the ticket groups, where status <> "closed".


(Beyond that, ideas that come to mind are: (a) Allow the selection of a group to be used as the criteria or otherwise allow modification of the criteria, (b) Option to list all open tickets for the account that the contact is under.)

It would be nice to have the ability to select which Account Manager you want when merging 2 contacts.  Even if we could, at least, see who the different Account Managers are when it lists the differences.  At this time - it does not show them.

Better resizing of editable grids

Currently in SLX 8.1 Web the editable grids are not automatically resized to the size needed by the amount of data.

The effect is, that e.g. the group list in the detail view is often too large, if you only have a group open with about two records.

An other place where you can see this is, when you drag a tab in the middle, having an editable grid on it with only 1 or 2 rows.

The tabs consumes much more space than it needs.

We need the grid to resize automatically so the user can use the space on the screen more effectively and reduce scrolling, especially in detail view tih group list and commen tasks.


SLX 8.1 Outlook Sync RESYNC option

Entities from Stored Procedure

Just like with a database view allow entities to be created from Stored Procedures.  There would need to be a limitation that the stored procedure cannot have any parameters and must return a record set.


This would give us great power to create awesome entities with logic in SQL and remove many of the limitations that views have.

If you use the Xbar and you look at the Opportunities for a contact that has just emailed. It will show you all open opportunities for the account, so some of the opportunities aren't even related to the contact.

When you have an account that has loads of opportunities but the one contact actually has two, you then have to click all the opportunities just to find the two that you want.

Swiftpage have said this is functioning as designed but this is clearly not as you do not get all opportunities for accounts on contact level when you use the Web Client or the Network Client.

Multi Attendee Meetings in LAN client

Multiple attendees can be added to a meeting in the Web client. This fuctionality would be very useful in the LAN client. Currently we have to manage most of our meetings outside of SLX, since a meeting can only be recorded against one Contact record. Often we are meeting with more than one person at a company though so need to include multiple Contacts in the Meeting Request. This causes duplication and being able to manage all meetings from within SLX would save a lot of time.

Coloured Groups

This idea would work great with Brain's Tool for managing groups or at least add a "last access date".


One of the most powerful aspects of SalesLogix as a CRM is the ability to create your own groups and filter data. A customer suggested to me recently that it would be nice to set the colour of those group tabs that run along the top. Users can then effectively "group" their groups and assign a colour to their grouped groups.

You get the idea. Being able to group the groups and assign colours would really build on SalesLogix's already fantastic group functionality and will help those users that have their groups set up like the attached below.


Adding this functionality for both the web and LAN would be fantastic as we have a few big SalesLogix clients that use their groups religiously. This will make the system considerably more attractive for future upgrades to them and will make life easier for those that utilise SalesLogix's group functionality properly.



xbar tickets and opportunities

Hi all,


When using the xbar and you click on an email you have sent or received, it will show you the list of contacts in the xbar pane.


If you pick one of the contacts (e.g. John Abbott) there is a ticket and opportunity icon underneath their name.

If you click one of these icons it only shows you the tickets or opportunities that currently have the status as 'Open'.


This causes issues as some clients have other status's such as 'Under Investigation' so looking at the contact in the xbar shows this contact has no tickets or opportunities when they actually do.


The xbar needs to have the ability to show tickets and opportunities that have different status's other than just 'Open'.



Give users the option on whether they use split view or full page view

In SalesLogix 8.0, Sage changed the layout of the main detail screens. Previously, where you were given a single page with a scroll bar, now you're given a static "detail" view at the top of the screen while your tabs reside underneath.

Although this may be seen by some as a favourable change, we're finding that this decission is proving unpopular with customers because of the way the tabs are now "squashed" at the bottom of the screen. Previously, they enjoyed the ability to view a single page of (for instance) contact information and to scroll up and down at their leisure depending on the data they needed to see.

Although they can use the "minimise" button at the top of the screen, the ability to do this is unpopular because it adds an extra click and hides off additional info that previously, they only had to scroll to the top to view.

Adding an option to allow users to choose between which view they'd like to use would be ideal.

(To clarify, by split view I mean the split between main information at the top and tab information at the bottom. I'm not referring to the LAN client split view where you can view details and group info on the same screen.)

XBar - Windows Authentication

We need to have Windows authentication for XBar, if as we do you have customers who ONLY use Windows Authentictaion then this is a problem, Windows authentication is nowadays either on or off, therefore without Windows Authentication support for Xbar, it will require additional portals setting up for SLX authentication.


Can you please make XBar compatible with Windows Authentication.

In our business we end up using teams as account management but cannot because of the limitations of the program.

It would be great if teh what's new functionality could be put into a widget (preferably with a way to filter it) without having to make new groups.

Would be really helpful if SalesLogix Lookups provided suggestions as you typed. For example you see this with on LinkedIn or Facebook when you search for a person's name it automatically shows a drop down with suggested names matching your search. This would be useful for certain fields like Account name, Contact Names, and even picklist fields like TYPE and STATUS.




Don't allow users to be deleted?

As per the Web don't allow users to be deleted in the Administrator.


Deleting users means that you lose a lot of metadata throughout that database. (i.e. Activiities, History, CreateUser, ModifyUser) information is no longer easily traced.



Outlook Sync - Details

WIth the new Outlook Sync, The activity syncs across with notes and subject, however none of the account and or contact details are synced over.


If you only have access to Outlook then the activity information is of very little value.


Could we please have the Account & Contact details sync over.





Desktop Manager Update Check

With SLX v8.1 Web Model Update 02 being released any customer who applies this update needs to have every end user update their SalesLogix Desktop Manager.


This is a major pain point for large saleslogix implementations. The whole reason these customers go to the web is so that they don't have to install software!


With that being said, I think a decent workaround would be if the desktop manager had the ability to check the portal URL and determine if an updated version of the Desktop Manager setup is available to download and prompt the user accordingly. At least this way it makes it a lot easier for end users to get the latest version.
