It'd be nice if the default message when you navigate away from a record in SalesLogix Web gave you the ability to save the record ie if the message said "There are unsaved changes on this page, press yes to save the changes and continue, or no to return to the {account/contact/opportunity} without saving changes"

Would auto save be the preferred user experience?

I hate when I have to locate a ticket activity I just barely got through adding in the web client. I just got through adding it, but I have to still page through pages and pages of activities looking for it. The ticket activities grid doesn't appear to have any kind of default sort to the data. It's not even in database order. To make it worse, I cannot click on the date column to sort the entries by the date so I get my new entry at the first or end of the list.


This sort of stuff is way to common in the web client and it makes me hate to use it.


Please, add a meaningful default to any and all grids in the client. If it is a list of data of some kind, there will be some reasonable way users will expect to see it sorted (usually by some kind of date value). Also, I realize that it takes several more clicks to make the columns sortable as well (we work in the same set of tools too), but please make the effort to ensure that grids are sortable in the client.

Each grid is now scrollable, each grid can now be sorted by column and each grid now has a default sort order. Each grid will save its personalized state across sessions using local storage.

Currently, Office 2010 is not supported (and Intelli-Sync does not work), and there is no version even scheduled to support it.  We need to get SLX working with the current version of office asap.

Coloured Groups

This idea would work great with Brain's Tool for managing groups or at least add a "last access date".


One of the most powerful aspects of SalesLogix as a CRM is the ability to create your own groups and filter data. A customer suggested to me recently that it would be nice to set the colour of those group tabs that run along the top. Users can then effectively "group" their groups and assign a colour to their grouped groups.

You get the idea. Being able to group the groups and assign colours would really build on SalesLogix's already fantastic group functionality and will help those users that have their groups set up like the attached below.


Adding this functionality for both the web and LAN would be fantastic as we have a few big SalesLogix clients that use their groups religiously. This will make the system considerably more attractive for future upgrades to them and will make life easier for those that utilise SalesLogix's group functionality properly.



XBar - Windows Authentication

We need to have Windows authentication for XBar, if as we do you have customers who ONLY use Windows Authentictaion then this is a problem, Windows authentication is nowadays either on or off, therefore without Windows Authentication support for Xbar, it will require additional portals setting up for SLX authentication.


Can you please make XBar compatible with Windows Authentication.

Web Configurator for deployments

Not sure how possible or likely this is, however here goes.


With the advent of the job server and having just been through a load balanced install utilising an app server for shared components, It would be really great to have a configurator within AA, within this configurator you would state where the SLXServer is located, where the job server is located, where the cache server is located, where the messaging server is located in addition whether you want to use windows authentication or slx authentication.


Plumb in all this information and all the relevant *.config files are deployed with the correct settings for the relevant servers and authentication methods.


Hacking around in config files with limited or no documentation for specific scenarios in this day and age is archaic.


Please provide us with some sort of mechanism to set up the configurations which are deployed to the relevant servers instead of having to mess around in config files.




SLX 8 WEB - display more than 4 calendars

Our customers would like to display more than 4 calendars. Like it was possible in LAN.


Right now you get:

"Sorry, you cannot view more than 4 calendars (including your own) at one time.
Clear one of the currently-selected calendars and try again."


Of course at some point you can't display the appointment details anymore.
But just a line of color is enough to see if the user has an appointment or not.

You could always hover over or open it to see the details.

Automatically open result record

If you search for something in slx and only get one result back, it would be nice to automatically open that record.

This would save the user a click.

And if you make this realy great, you put in an option for this, so each user can enable or disable this feature.

Searching for records in a database is an extremely important component. Speedsearch should be the standard lookup tool in saleslogix for finding records as the standard lookup functionality at entity level is very limiting and unforgiving. However Speedsearch needs a complete overhaul as it is clumsy and it is not user friendly. Users want and expect the "Google" experience from a search function.


Downsides of Speedsearch

  • Results take up too much space onscreen
  • Characters such as "&" and other unusual characters are not accepted.
  • Only the first 25 results are shown. (why not just All results?). Users assume that this all the results as it is not clear that there are more.
  • If you type in a portion of a word (e.g. basically a contains function) you do not get a result - very poor.
  • When the advanced box is open there is a scrollbar to view the results within the screen scrollbar which is confusing.
  • The ordering sometimes makes no sense. It will show leads with a poor match level before an account with 100% match level. Then the same search will order it correctly at another time. Users have a hard time trusting the results.

Features Wanted:

  • Predictive typing with the available results as you type (just like Google).
  • Ability to configure what fields are shown in the results pane as well as the preview pane. This should also be configurable for the type of entity where there is a match. For example the fields shown for a ticket will be different for the fields shown for an account.
  • Ability to set your own max results e.g.. All results
  • Results shown for portions of words (contains function)
  • If the bulk of the search is a match - for example if someone types in Company Limited and the record is in the database as "Company Ltd" or just "Company" it should still provide a corresponding match whereas currently no results will be returned.
  • Preview screen needs to be overhauled for look and feel. It looks awful and some of it is not relevant. Fields shown on the preview screen needs to be configurable.

    Where users do not have access to a record they can still see a match but are told they do not have access. This is actually a great feature as it means users have the ability to know a record is there and can discuss further with the account manager. However, I want the ability to allow a preview on the result for certain approved fields so the can get a basic understanding of a record in order to discuss further with the relevant account manager on potential duplicates or cross selling of sales opportunities etc.
  • In addition to records being sorted by score level. e.g.. 100% matches are shown before 90% matches etc, where the score level is the same, we need the ability to configure the order of results (e.g.. Accounts should show before leads because that is qualified information).

We need an update service just like Microsoft has for Windows (and other installed MS products).


Basically there would be a master update server at Sage SalesLogix where QA releases "snippit" style updates on a regular basis. Customer sites would have a "SalesLogix Update Server" which communicates with the master update server and authenticates the customer server (this ties into Maintenance renewal and customerID  plus a unique "key" issued to the update server for authentication.


Changes/updates would land on the customer server and be "released" by the local SalesLogix admin.

Filters on Date Fields

Date Filters in the web should be more configurable.


Simply having Next Month, Next Year, etc etc is no good really. It would be good to have it like Excel 2010, which automatically groups by YYYY, MM, DD, HH, MM, SS.  It should be possible to set this up in the Application Architect filters.


Our requirement is to filter by Month and Year, but it would be good to be able to drill/filter to any date/time element.  We are having to hard code our Month/Year Filter at the moment using a Range filter, which we will have to keep updating every few years. Not ideal.

My users might be finding difficulty with this because we just converted from the LAN version to the web version.  But, when inserting a new contact/account/opportunity, users are able to navigate away from the Insert page without being prompted to save.  Sometimes they are in the middle of adding something and then get pulled away and have to come back.  They may forget what they are in the middle of and when they navigate away, they lose all of their information.  I think if a user navigates away from the Insert page, they should be prompted or notified that they will lose data if they continue.

Merge and Move Opportunities

It would be nice to be able to merge Opportunities or move them from one Account to another. 


We often have the problem that Company A calls us for a system and we open an Opportunity with them.  Then Company B calls us for the same system and we realize that both are bidding on a system for Company C.  If we already have two Opps opened at Company A and Company B we'd like to merge them, and put them all under Company C since that's where the equipment will eventually end up.  Although we may not have direct contact with Company C now, they will be the ones likely calling in the future for spare parts, service, etc. so we really care more about them than the other two and feel the Opportunity really belongs there.

Application Architect Deployments

Please make deployments specific to projects. We have started using the debug button in AA to build, deploy, and open our default deployments. It is very handy. However, when sharing a database with other developers and uing local project files we cannot use the debug button as our deploy configurations are different. There currently can only be one default deployment per database.

Configure default operator for lookup properties

Import word templates into Saleslogix

We often get the question if it is possible to import existing word templates into SalesLogix.

currently this is not possible. You can only do ctrl+a, ctrl+c and ctrl+v.

But this is no solution if you want to keep your formating.

So if you move mail merge to the server, please allow us to import existing word templates.


It'd be nice if sorting by multiple columns in SLX Web was possible, for example to allow sorting My Accounts by Type and then Account Name

User Login Tracking

We have had several clients ask for the ability to track statistics related to when a user logged in and how long they were active.


They find this valuable because it helps upper management see the usage and value of SalesLogix.


Conversely if for some reason certain users are not active, it helps identify them so they can be trained better and encouraged to use SalesLogix.


The ability to export this data to excel would be ideal.


With more and more companies moving towards externally hosted solutions for their email, Sage should look at creating a more robust solution to allow for integration with SalesLogix and an externally hosted email solution, such as Google Mail.


The current out-dated SalesLogix Mail Client does not allow SSL encryption that is required by most externally hosted mail solutions.  The idea here is to not have an externally hosted back end with a familiar "outlook-esque" front end, but rather to embrace the functionality that  an externally host solution gives its users without having to pigeonhole the user in a UI that is weak and has limited functionality.
