Database based What's New

Status: New
by Silver Contributor RJSamp on ‎06-23-2010 08:05 AM

One of my favorite's for over a Decade. Most of the what's new data is simple data grid retrievals on the database. A simple tabbed form could provide the Remote only What's New information to LAN and remote user's alike for most of the data (and there have been many requests to give LAN user's a What's New Nav Bar button).

Developer's with more than one remote database on their machine already know about the cross talk between databases that existed in the What's New data file itself (yep, all remote db's use the same data file for What's New, even if they are from different base server's).

Besides the Speed, LAN, and eliminate the crosstalk benefits...what's the hold up?

Well, the DELETED records would need some kind of pointer\database table to allow a list of recent deleted accounts to be displayed.

So have a Whats New table store that kind of data.......

and take ALL of this info out of the blob.....
