Security on Export To Excel

Status: Delivered in 8.0
by Copper Contributor on ‎05-02-2011 02:49 PM

Our clients especially in the financial area need standard SLX security for the export to excel feature so that users only authorized users can export data from saleslogix. The export feature already exists, so hopefully there is a way to wrap the Role based security around it in the web client to achieve this.

Note:  We provided Allen with steps to do this for all users in the following forum post, however; this direction turns off Export to Excel for all users.  He wants to be able to turn this on or off for specific users.

The other question is which grids do you want to turn off for which users? and the Group export to excel is a different function?

On the LAN we used SecFunctions and some custom scripts..we turned off grids unless the sec function record existed.....same for groups where only the ones that were specific to the user and the keyword for the grid were allowed....

RJ, good points..

The existing "roles" mechanism does a great job of dealing with securing actions (ex: Entity View/Add/Edit/Delete) ,  what the web is missing is what the "Function Security" tab does in the Windows/LAN world in the Administrator Application. Being able to instantly enable/disable menu items saves tons of time.
