Opportunities - a better way to list products where two options are offered

We frequently run into this problem with Opportunities.  Say we are selling computers and someone wants a quote for a widescreen monitor and also a traditional shaped monitor along with the computer, mouse, keyboard, etc.  If we list both the widescreen monitor and the regular one, the value of the Opportunity is inflated, and at the sale it looks like we didn't get a full sale.  Of course we never intended to sell more than one monitor with the computer sale.  However, if we don't list both, then we also can't alert production that there is possible demand for both types of monitors.  So we either list only one and have more accurate $ values, or list both and are able to keep production aware of what's in the pipeline.  There needs to be some way to resolve this conflict.
