Increase the size of the notes field on activities / history

We're now about six weeks into our use of SLX.


Apart from bugs being reported, by far the most common bit of feedback that I've had from our user base is that they'd like to see the size of the fields that allows the notes to be entered / edited / displayed on the activity / history popup. It does seem very small for what it's trying to accomplish.


I searched for other comments on this, but couldn't find anything, which I was surprised by. Do other people find this to be an issue? Maybe other work practices are different from ours, but it seems much to small to display notes for the way that our sales guys record conversations / meetings.


I've been told that this form is locked down for 3rd parties to work with.


Therefore is there any other way of accomplishing this, or should it simply be submitted as a request to Infor? I'm hoping that this will be sptted as an obvious improvement by Hook and Loop in their interface audit, but I'd like to draw their attention to it if not.


I'd be interested to hear other people's veiws on this.

   Are you talking the Web Client or the Windows client?

   Sounds like you do not have a "premier" architect license.


You need to go back to the Infor CRM(Saleslogix) business partner who sold your company the system. They are teh first place where you go for customization - not Infor.


FYI - A - Customs like this are done all the time by BP's - or customers themselves who are trained in doing teh work AND have teh proper licenses to do so.

We're using the web client and we had discussed this with our business partner but we were given the feedback that the activity ' history form was locked down and it was not possible to make these kind of changes in this area. Therefore I was suggesting it as a change to the core system, especially in the light of the design work that is being undertaken by Hook and Loop.


However further to your advice I will revisit with them, and if it can be done as a minor customisation then that makes it easier.


However if it is a major customisation, or one that will need work each time we upgrade, then I stand by my sugestion for making a change to the core system, as it'd be better for people not to have to make this change - if sufficient people felt that it was currently too small.


I will put any customisation posts in different forums. I do however have a truck load of suggestions for the improvement of the web client, so my intention is to make them in this forum. It feels like this is the right place for those, but please guide me before I start posting if this is incorrect?

The form isn't locked - although it could benefit from a "zoom" function (like Windows client). When 1st released this Notes box was 2 lines long, it is now much bigger. However, still not enough to read and gain a full overview of the note. With the Windows client you can double-click the detail area and it will zoom to a readable window - that's what's needed here. The initial open shows the info about the note (dates, users etc.) and, when dbl-clicked - the full note shown.

I spoke to my business partner and his response is that this can be done, but due to the nature of this particular form, it would be a very large job for development and also all future updates. If anyone knows better than this then I'd like to hear from them, but I've always found that our business partner really knows their stuff.


Therefore if we're not the only ones that are experiencing this frustration (and it sounds like we're not), then I'd put forward the case for reviewing this when the interface gets its facelift.

It's about 2 mins to do - but needs doing each time this form changes (eg via a core update).

@Paul - you are ALWAYS going to have to deal w/ANY customizations on upgrades.. no matter if it is the Windows/LAN client, Web client, or the mobility client.


.. and I agree w/MikeS - it's about a 2 minute job... plus rebuild/deploy.. (w/web).
