Have Project Workspace include other folders at same level as \Model folder

Status: New
by Employee ‎12-07-2009 01:38 PM - edited ‎12-07-2009 06:31 PM

I would like to be able to create other suborders defined at the same level as the \Model folder and have those included in the features supported for "Project" / "Project Workspace".

Examples of Project Features:

  • Project Backup
  • Import Project into VFS table
  • Export project from VFS table

This will allow us to mirror (if desired) a folder structure from Source Code control that groups both our custom external source code together with the Sage SLX \Model source.

One of my goals will be to be able to archive - into the VFS table - my source code for external assemblies (entity biz rules, QuickForm event handlers, Portal module assemblies, etc.) together with the rest of the project customizations thus ensuring an easy and accurate way to locate 100% of the current running production solution.

A related goal would be that a Project backup would contain not only the entire model but my external custom source code as well.

Sorry for the Typos - the idea logix forum does not seem to allow edits.

I agree that adding source code and other files into the project for safe keeping would be useful. In fact, when it comes to providing a customer with a project we need to supply all source code (or at least be able to do so), all spec docs, requirements docs, etc. It would be so valuable if all of these "non Application Architect" specific items could be packaged together. This would make disaster recovery simpler as well as simplifying our efforts when we pick up the project months later.

Hi Todd,

The forum actually does allow for edits (you have 24 hours from your initial post).  Please give your edits another try.  To edit, click the title of your posted idea, then look for the "Idea Options" link which is in orange lettering just above the idea title and Kudos image.  Click the drop down and click "Edit Idea".

Let me know if you have any questions or it still doesn't seem to be working for you.

Thanks Tawny - I thought I'd looked everywhere... but was right in front of me.

I've cleaned up my post and hopefully fixed (most) of the typos... been a rough day.

The drop down box isn't very prominent so it's good that you brought it up in case others are having that same challenge.  Sorry it's been such a rough day, here's hoping for a smoother tomorrow!
