Exchange Link - Not correctly linking an Activity to an Account and Contact when the Contact was created in Outlook.

This is what I am doing:
 

1.                   In Outlook create a new Contact called Emma Nixon, with a company name of Sage and email address of emma@sage.demo.

2.                   Run the Exchange Link Contacts sync (you can do this several times at this point and it makes no difference.)

3.                   Log into SLX Client as Lee.

4.                   Confirm that you can see Emma Nixon in the Exchange Link Contacts Group.

5.                   Go back to Outlook.

6.                   File -> New -> Meeting Request

7.                   Set the To: field to Emma Nixon and the Subject and Location to Test and the date to 7 days time.

8.                   Run the Exchange Link Activities Sync.

9.                   Go back to SLX Client and refresh

10.               Navigate to Emma Nixon and note that there is nothing in the Activities tab

11.               Select the Calendar from the NavBar

12.               Select the date 7 days from now

13.                Note the Meeting is there, but if you open the meeting it is not linked the Emma Nixon.

14.                If you check the Activity table it has no account/contact id’s.

Emma, this looks like a defect.  Have you submitted this to Tech Support?

Emma, I checked with Tech Support, and this is the way the product currently works, meaning that it is a feature request.  By being posted here on IdeaLogix, it does make its way into the feature request system, and it will be considered for future releases.  Thanks.

Hi Emma,

 

You can get this to work by using the following steps:

 

Create your meeting in Outlook by going to Contacts, right mouse click on the SyncSalesLogix Contact and select – Create –> Meeting. Enter a date/time etc and click send. The Activity will sync and link to the Contact & Account in SalesLogix.

 

It does not work if you go to the Outlook Calendar first to create your meeting and then invite the attendee (SyncSaleslogix Contact)

Correct Adam, and that's the defect......or BADFAD. It also violated SLX Data Integrity (all Activity's need to have at least a second ID Field filled in....Lead, ContactID, AccountID, OpportunityID, TicketID, etc.).

 

Now that 8.1 is being released this is only going to get worse.....

If I setup an Outlook Meeting to 25 Contact's and 10 user's then ExchangeLink needs to insert 1 Activity Record, 11 UserActivity records, and 25 Activity_Contact\Attendees link records.
