Different file extension for web bundles

Status: Under Consideration
by Silver Contributor ngaller on ‎06-17-2011 06:05 AM

We know that they are zip files, but it makes it a bit hard to tell them apart from other zip files... also users tend to double click on it then be puzzled.  Would it be possible to keep the same format but put a different extension (.sxbx maybe?) and have it associated with AA so that I can double click a bundle to install it?

Agree, went to install the mobile integration the other day in 7.54 and spent some time wondering why the architect was telling me it wasn't a valid bundle. Only after I unzipped it did I realise that the actual bundle zip file was contained within the zip file.

Schoolboy error I know but it's an example of the confusion this can cause. With the LAN version I know that an SXB file is a valid SalesLogix bundle file so there's no confusion.
