Days Since Last Touch XXXX    - Tracking Accounts/Contacts

Many of our clients want to see a built in feature that tracks the number of days past since the last touch. This would allow clients to easily manage groups based on this field.  Any time an activity is performed on the contact or account, the counter is reset back to  zero.

Therefore clients could easily develop a CRM strategy without code or customization.

Are you refering to this in the LAN client or the Web, i think the last Activity on is pretty much there in the Account Detail Page or the Contact Detail page.

Web version 7.5.3

I did some testing on the account field you mentioned, it would appear mail merge history items do not affect this date. This would make our groups incorrect, since a mail merge would be considered a "touch." For some reason, some mail merge history items appear timeless, which is a probable cause. More research is needed on my part.

It is possible to build a dynamic query by using the following. In this case, I want to pull contact information where the last contact based on createdate from the history table was greater than 30 days based on today's date.  Create your group based on the Contact table and then for the Conditions, select CONTACTID and for Operation select IN and then paste

 (SELECT LIMIT.CONTACTID FROM (
SELECT CHISTORYLIMIT.CONTACTID, CHISTORYLIMIT.LASTCONTACT FROM
(SELECT CONTACTID, MAX(CREATEDATE) AS [LASTCONTACT] FROM SYSDBA.HISTORY H WHERE ISNULL(H.CATEGORY, 'None') <> 'Database Change' GROUP BY CONTACTID) CHISTORYLIMIT
) LIMIT
 WHERE DATEDIFF(DD,ISNULL(LIMIT.LASTCONTACT,0),GETDATE()) > 30)

Make sure you uncheck use value as literal.  You can adjust the days by changing 30 to any value you want.  In our case our select includes custom tables and is considerable more complex but the key is that we're basing contact on the history table.  Just fully test your IN SELECT integrating any custom tables and you should be able to build any number of 'Last Contact' groups.
