For productivity and debugging reasons, we find outselves working with the AA generated CodeSnippet project and source files.
The challenge is that you must remember to copy & paste each and every one of your edits back into each of the sprarate CodeSnippets from within AA.
This is a process that is both tedious and human error prone.
A tool that could resynchronize our edits to these copies of the source files back into the various code snippet files scattered throughout the model woudl be very useful.
Timmus, I agree. Doesn't the way that AA work (with all the separate code snippets) remind you of the pre-v6 Architect working with legacy forms and scripts? Hehe.
What I would love to see is to have my VS project somehow linked, so it would open my VS project and take me to the exact code rather than open these small disconnected snippets.
I'm with you Ryan, the current Code Snippet developer experience very much reminds me to the Legacy, Legacy LAN forms and the separate basic script plugins for each form and control event handler.
I would love to have some kind of U.I. experience where all of the code snippet code for a form at least appears to be in a single file for my editing experience, and ideally is just a link to a VS project as Ryan described. Ideally this woudl support wither the CodeSnippet project or my own custom Assembly project.
But in the mean time - for cases where code snippets have been used rather than an External Assembly - I'd still like to have a little time-saver tool that would synchronize the files from the CodeSnippet project back into each CodeSnippet stored in various places thoroughout the /Model. This would be an on-demand tool, not an automatic tool and ideally would present prompts for "Replace XXXX?" to lessen any uneasiness.
