XML Schema

Does anyone know exactly what rebuilding the XML Schema does?

For mail-merge purposes only. Ensures it's up to date with dbschema.

Re: XML Schema

The XMLSCHEMA is required to be rebuilt when there are database schema changes. The XMLSCHEMA plugin, which contains Saleslogix database schema information, was originally designed for use by the Saleslogix Web Client's Group Builder (Group Builder's dependency on this has mostly been removed, although it is still used in some places in Sage.SalesLogix.Client.GroupBuilder.dll); the XMLSCHEMA plugin was then adopted by mail merge for use in the "Insert Saleslogix Mail Merge Field" dialog, where it is still used today (for both Web and LAN).

Note that if you're on Oracle you will be interested in the following defect fix which addressed an issue where the XMLSCHEMA plugin was being rebuilt when it shouldn't have been.
