SalesLogix 8.1 LAN Event Manager error IsBrandingEnabled

Hi,

After upgrading our own SalesLogix database from 7.5.4 to 8.1 we are getting some weird errors in the calendar.

Whenever you add a user to you calendar or edit an event and click on 'ok' this error appears:

Exception EOleException: Failed to parse SQL

Exception Location: [0058B31E] {SalesLogix.exe}: IsBrandingEnabled

This is not user specific. We all have this.

The SQL Profiler shows me this in the error log:

SELECT A1.ACTIVITYID, A1.DESCRIPTION, A1.STARTDATE, A1.DURATION, A1.RECURRING, A1.RECURITERATIONS, A1.RECURPERIOD, A1.RECURPERIODSPEC, A1.RECURSKIP, A1.ALARM, A1.ALARMTIME, A1.ACTIVITYBASEDON, A1.ROLLOVER, A1.TIMELESS, A1.PROCESSID, A1.PROCESSNODE, A1.ORIGINALDATE, A1.NOTES, A1.TYPE, A1.USERID, A1.ACCOUNTID, A1.ACCOUNTNAME, A1.CONTACTID, A1.CONTACTNAME, A1.OPPORTUNITYID, A1.OPPORTUNITYNAME, A1.PHONENUMBER, A1.PRIORITY, A1.CATEGORY, A1.CREATEDATE, A1.CREATEUSER, A1.MODIFYDATE, A1.FOREIGNID1, A1.FOREIGNID2, A1.FOREIGNID3, A1.FOREIGNID4, A1.USERDEF1, A1.USERDEF2, A1.USERDEF3, A1.MODIFYUSER, A1.PROJECTID, A1.TICKETID, A1.TICKETNUMBER, A1.LEADID, A1.LEADNAME, A2.CONFIRMED A2_CONFIRMED, A1.LOCATION FROM ACTIVITY A1 INNER JOIN USER_ACTIVITY A2 ON (A1.ACTIVITYID=A2.ACTIVITYID) WHERE (A2.USERID='UUSAYA000015') AND (A2.CONFIRMED='T') AND (A1.TYPE IN (262145, 262146, 262147, 262162)) AND (A1.RECURRING<>'T') AND ((((A1.STARTDATE !Operator! ?) AND (A1.TIMELESS = 'F')) OR ((A1.STARTDATE !Operator!  ?) AND (A1.TIMELESS = 'T')))) AND ((((A1.STARTDATE !Operator! ?) AND (A1.TIMELESS = 'F')) OR ((A1.STARTDATE !Operator!  ?) AND (A1.TIMELESS = 'T'))))     ")

Thanks,

Hartog

Hi Hartog,

Did you ever get to the bottom of this, we have just upgraded to 8.1 and am having a bit of a nightmare with this issue, seeing this a lot.

Any insight would be much appreciated

Re: SalesLogix 8.1 LAN Event Manager error IsBrandingEnabled

This may be an existing defect 14095391.

Defect: “Failed to Parse SQL…IsBrandingEnabled” error: scheduling an event.

Steps to Duplicate:
1. Log into the Windows client as any user.
2. Navigate to the Calendar.
3. Click the user name in the upper right hand corner of Calendar.
4. Click Add.
5. In the Select User window highlight any user then click OK twice.
6. Navigate to the Activities main view.
7. Right-click in the list and select Schedule then Event.
8. Click OK. The following error is returned: "Exception EOleException: Failed to parse SQL Exception location [0058B31E](saleslogix.exe) IsBrandingEnabled".

Workaround:
1. Remove user(s) other than logged-in user from the Calendar then schedule the Event.

Re: SalesLogix 8.1 LAN Event Manager error IsBrandingEnabled

We are seeing this ALL over the place on 8.0 (LAN) as well. Happens on upgraded systems and (sure looks like) a BUG in groupbuilding. Happened on ours and customer's site as well.

I thought SLX Support has a "tool" that will look at the groups and "fix" them - heard about this from a customer (not mine) that said they got it (from support).

A - True or False about the tool?

B - If true - any reason teh tool is not available for download off teh partner/customer portal(s)?

Re: SalesLogix 8.1 LAN Event Manager error IsBrandingEnabled

Hi,

This is not the issue we are seeing per se.

Essentially some users are seeing this on loading the calendar, it comes up whilst loading, for others the calendar loads and then when you click on an activity the error is seen, once you have had the error the activity opens ok, however if you ctrl f5 then the same issue is seen again.

I assume the defect you mention, whilst not exactly what we are seeing is almost certainly related has the above scenario been reported or seen by yourselves?

Hi Rj,

Yes we are seeing this all over as well, however only since we upgrade to 8.1 from 8.0 this was fine in v8 on our system, certainly smellls like a bug, another one.

We are also seeing this issue if you drag an existing activity around the calendar, have also reproduced this on Eval, although I am not currently seeing all the other issues we see on Eval, but clearly a bug here, which needs to be resolved sooner than later.

Re: SalesLogix 8.1 LAN Event Manager error IsBrandingEnabled

We did too. There are a lot of bugs in 8.0/8.1, especially localization. Like ü scrambled in memo fields, forms etc.

Also when the lookup for leadsource is displayed, it won't find any because the word 'active' was translated into the German word 'aktiv'. This is really annoying....

Re: SalesLogix 8.1 LAN Event Manager error IsBrandingEnabled

Hartog,

- Vince provided the defect # for the first issue; “Edit an event and click on 'ok' this error appears” is defect # 14095391. This defect is slated to be fixed an 8.1 Update.  (Sorry, no ETA at this time)

- The issue with “dragging an existing activity around the calendar” is defect 14095324 (To be fixed version is not available yet)

- We are attempting to replicate the issue you described as “adding a user to the calendar causes the issue/error” Can you please send me the full build # of Saleslogix that you're using?  We have tried to replicate this issue and are so far not having any luck.  If you can provide exact steps to reprodeuce the error we'd really appreciate it.

Thanks!

John Gariepy
