Hi,
Just want to ask, does SalesLogix support record based security? For example if I want some contact records do not show to some users, can I setup it in SalesLogix?

Yes.
You can assign the Ownership of Each Contact Record to a Team (or a User).
And, you can define which users belong to the Team (or have visibility to the User's data), which would be how you limit who can see the data.
Additionally, SalesLogix also support Field Level Security, which means you could further restrict access to specific fields (e.g. a Support User can access a Contact, but through field level security the Credit Rating and Credit Limit fields are restricted, so he/she cannot see that data).

Do I make it through Administrator setup or through code? Could you please give me an example?

For Example, lets say that you have to divide your Data per Region:
On the Administrator you can create the Teams you need and Assign Users to each team. For example, a NorthEast team. Within that team you include the Users that will have access to that data.
Then, you set the Ownership of your Records to each Team. So, a users that only belongs to the NorthEast team, will only see the Contact Records that are "owned" by the Northeast team.
A user can belong to Many teams, this may allow Managers to have visibility over Multiple Regions.
Once you have that basic Setup configured, then you could dive into Field Level Security....
