Accepted Solution

GetGroupDataReader Failed SLX 7.5.1

We have a user that gets the following error when trying to lookup a contact from inside the Web Client.

Sage SalesLogix

GetGroupDataReaderFailed: :

Invalid Column Name 'TICKETNUMBER'.

If I login using this users credentials on the SLX server to the web client, I cannot recreate the error.  The user is running XP pro and IE6.

Thanks Much in Advance

Re: GetGroupDataReader Failed SLX 7.5.1

Have the user clear out their IE cache. Also ensure their browser settings follow the implemtation guide (pg 90 according to Sage, page 98 according to the pdf). Here it is but in an ugly format:

Temporary Internet Files>Settings Check for newer versions of stored pages
Automatically.
Security>Trusted sites>Sites • Clear the Require server verification (httpsSmiley Happy
for all sites in this zone check box. Type http://
followed by the Web Host server name for the Web
Client site and add it as a Trusted site (for example,
http://server).
• Use the Default Level for security (Low).
• Enable (or set to prompt) Initialize and script
ActiveX controls not marked safe for scripting.
Security tab Enable Drag and drop or copy and paste files (Allow
access to the clipboard).
Privacy tab Medium or lower (cookies must be enabled).

Re: GetGroupDataReader Failed SLX 7.5.1

Thanks had done all of the above and that did not correct the issue.  Went out on a limb and deleted all of his cookies and that appeared to correct the issue.  Not sure about this one but it is fixed at this moment.

 thanks again

Re: GetGroupDataReader Failed SLX 7.5.1

Mark, I apologize for my ambiguity but by "Have the user clear out their IE cache" I meant to clear out all files including cookies.

Thanks for confirming that this was the solution and pointing out that cookies were the key.

Howdy, thanks, but I think I deserve most of the blame on that one.  i just suprised a cookie could afftect look-ups.

Re: GetGroupDataReader Failed SLX 7.5.1

Does anyone have a more permanent suggestion that asking users to delete their cookies?

Re: GetGroupDataReader Failed SLX 7.5.1

After initially cleaning up the issue by deleting cookies the Temporary Internet Files>Settings Check for newer versions of stored pages
Automatically setting should prevent future occurences.

We've sent out that change with group policy and have verified that the change was made to each instance, however the issue still crops up on occassion.

Re: GetGroupDataReader Failed SLX 7.5.1

Is it possible that development changes/deployments are the cause? I dont mean to say that the development changes are the problem just that changes to the site are what is causing instability.

Re: GetGroupDataReader Failed SLX 7.5.1

I suppose anything is possible, however we run dev, test, and prod environments and only deploy changes into production in a scheduled manner.
