Every now and then, I get this error – “Error in background sync timer: Access violation at address 75BE4974 in module ‘oleaut32.dll’. Read of address 00000009.”

I have one user getting the above error.

Window 7

IE 8

SLX 7.5.2

The only thing that I was able to find was the reinstall MDAC 2.8

Any other ideas?

Thanks in advance

Hi

I can see we had a Defect in v7.0.1 which is still open and due for resolution in a future Service Pack for v8.

Existing Defect ID: 1-46136

SalesLogix version: 7.0.1  Build Number: 1069

DEFECT Background Sync Timer error with autosync

Periodically during autosync runs I am getting the following error.  Seems to be much more prevelant when using a RAS [dial-up] connection with network sync.

---------------------------

SalesLogix Synchronization Client

---------------------------

Error in background sync timer: Access violation at address 77124915 in module 'oleaut32.dll'. Read of address 00000009

---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

Occasionally followed by this:

---------------------------
Error
---------------------------

Exception EAccessViolation:

Access violation at address 77124915 in module 'oleaut32.dll'. Read of address 00000009

Exception location:

[77124915]{oleaut32.dll} VariantClear

---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

Additional Notes:

  • This issue is not specific to network sync and has been reproduced with FTP synchronization.

Known Workarounds:

Ending the process on SLXSystem.exe and restarting the application (rebooting will do this just as well)

Delete and recreate the datalink

Thanks, Emma
