Same thing here - we just upgraded to SLX Lan v8, we are running outlook 2010 and we still MUST unregister the slmn.dll & slxab32.dll or outlook will not start.

THe advice I was given by my Business Partner was:
Sage have now confirmed the Outlook address book issue is resolved in the next version, SalesLogix 8.0.
This issue was lodged as defect #12090311 against SalesLogix v7.5.4.
QA … confirmed this issue is not duplicable from SalesLogix v8.0 RC 4 …
So are you stating that you have replicated the issue on SalesLogix v8.0 RC 4?
Cheers

This is what I can say; when we installed the production-released Version 8.0 of SalesLogix, we had to unregistered the 2 .dll's or Outlook 2010 would not start - same error about outlook encountering a problem and needing to close.
I recently installed update 02 for version 8.0 and the same thing happened. We had to again unregister the 2 .dll's.
I can't tell you that we are running the exact same scenarios or applications that you are, but this was just our experience. I would be interested in knowing what we might be doing wrong if Sage is saying that this is fixed in Version 8.0.
Best regards

Hi,
we are on SLX8, Update 10 and Office 2010 now. We have problems with starting Outlook. As long as slxab32.dll is registered, Outlook will not start. Currently we unregister the dll on all workstations.
The version of the file is 8.0.0.8553.
Is this still a known issue?

Same for us. We are just testing an upgrade from v7.2.1 to v8.0.0. Our install includes updates to HF10. Outlook 2010 will not open. I renamed the slxab32.dll and slxmn.dll and outlook opens.
Please, SLX, find a solid fix for this.

Hi RJ,
thanks for that information. But this will not help any customers on 8.0. We have a lot of customizations. We just moved to 8.0 and will nocht go to 8.1.
So Swiftpage. What about a solution for those customers?

The defect referenced 12090311 was not fixed in SLX8.0 or any update of 8.0 at this time.
If you create a new profile without using the Microsoft Office Customization Tool, does that solve the issue?
Thanks,

Hi Deanne,
possibly this would will workaround the issue. I can check this.
But this is NOT a solution for 150+ clients.

We were able to get around this issue by unregistering the slxab32.dll. Anytime you do an update to the SLX Client (upgrade, install, repair, change, etc.), it will break Outlook 2010. If you perform the following unregister, Outlook will then open:
regsvr32.exe "c:\program files (x86)\saleslogix\slxab32.dll" -u
Hope that helps!
