7.5.4 Desktop Integration not working

A client workstations ran V7.5.4 Web Client desktop integration on Windows XP with Office 2010 without problems.  They upgraded to Windows 7 and Office 2010 and now have the following issues and situation with Desktop Integration and Intellisync. 

  1. Desktop manager is installed and works, send SLX is functional.
  2. Intellisync is installed and calendar is shared and working.
  3. Drag and Drop from Outlook to SalesLogix results in a pop-up asking if “You want to Install Intellisync”
  4.  Export to Excell results: "The was an error in Sage.MailMergeService.ExportToExcel().  The mail merge service could not be loaded.  This error may occur if Sage SalesLogix Desktop Integratio is not installed or is not installed properly.

Any clues as to what is going on?  They are using IE8 32bit as the browser.

The client developed a work around for the problem.  (Web Client using Windows Authentication)

Indeed, adding the user to the Administrators group and having the user enter their normal LAN ID credentials in the UAC prompt proves to be a workaround for this issue.


It appears that it (Desktop Integration) installs this application to C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Sage. That location does not require elevation to write to, but to add the application into the Startup folder so that it runs at each boot does require elevation. Running the application using our a-dash accounts writes the application to C:\Users\a-<username>\...


Also, we had to uncheck Windows Authentication and have the user enter just their username in the username field. I understand this part depends on how it’s set up on the server for each user, though.


Can we find out if the vendor has a new version of this application that installs for all users on the machine [writes to HKLM instead of HKCU, Program Files instead of C:\Users, etc.] and does not require this workaround?


Does V8 address this??

Each user can have their own Outlook postoffice on the same machine.....are you really certain you want them logging into the same local postoffice?
