I downloaded the 7.5 version saleslogix (client version). all went well but at the end, i get ''login failed-catastrophic error''. I checked almost everything (including the SQL client) and it seems all works well except that i cant loggin. can you help?

There are several possibilities for this error...
First - you say "7.5" - 7.5.what??? The latest 7.5 is on SP4 plus some updates.
Sounds like client system may not have "all" the SQL native client drivers in place...
If you are on SQL 2005 you need the right (32 or 64 bit depending on PC os) driver.. plus the "backward compatibility"
On SQL 2008?.. then you need the 2008 native client PLUS the 2005 - yep.. both.

Can you login from a different client/pc or is this the only one you have setup?
Server side - did you use the user "sysdba" - you have to... and did you follow the proper procedure when SQL2008 is involved?
A - On the Connection Tab:
Data Source: Name of the SQL Server
User name: sysdba
Check Allow Saving Password
Select the actual SQL Database
B - On the All Tab:
Double-Click Persist Security Info
In the property Value drop-down list, select True
Double-Click Integrated Security
Click Reset Value
data may exist that does not display in the Value field. This value must be reset to insure that all data is removed
C - Just "OK" everything out and NOT test again.. or it may fail.
