Windows 2012 (RC)

Noticed this in the release  notes for deprecated items:

ODBC support for 16- and 32-bit applications and drivers is deprecated. Use 64-bit versions instead.

ODBC/OLEDB support for SQL is deprecated for versions beyond SQL Server 7and SQL 2000. Migrate to SQL Native Client (SNAC) to use features provided by SQL Server 2005, SQL Server 2008, and later versions.

So, be aware anything that is custom/relies on/for this this will not work from Win2012 onwards...

Also, .HLP files are deprecated (WinHelp)

Re: Windows 2012 (RC)

Great info Mike!

With the focus on Windows 8, this sems to have slipped thru the back door. However, our customers still run a lot of 2003 servers and ar targeting to move to 2008. So not a great concern.. yet!
