Problems with SyncService SLX 754

We have a problem with the SLX Sync Service.

When we run the sync server manually, everthing works fine.

The problem is with the sync service automation:

We have configured the automated sync service in the Administrator.

When we now look at the monitor console, the sync service appears with its green symbol as if it was working, but in the history and pendig job grids there are only empty lines. We scheduled the service for every 30 mins, but nothing happens.

Its SLX 754 on a 2008 windows server.

Does anybody have an idea what's going wrong here?

Look in event view app log - what shows (in relation to sync service)

Re: Problems with SyncService SLX 754

Unfortunatly, there is no entry in the event log.

We also were looking at the processes at the scheduled time, but the syncserver.exe did not appear.

Re: Problems with SyncService SLX 754

Have you tried completely removing the Sync Automation and reconfiguring it as below. This often works (assuming you have tried restarting the SalesLogix Synchronisation first)

  1. Stop the SalesLogix Sync Service on the Sync Server machine
  2. Delete the Syncservices.cfg file in the shared SyncService folder
  3. From the SalesLogix Administrator, click Tools then select Execute SQL and execute the following SQL statement:

    Delete Fom syncservicefile

  1. Exit the Administrator.
  2. Reboot the Sync Server
  3. Login to the Sync Server as the service user that is running the Synchronization Service
    Example: SLXService
  4. Stop the Sync Service.
  5. Open Administrator.
  6. From the Systems menu, click Sync Automation Services.
    Note:
The Sync Services File Path dialog box automatically appears the first time this tab is accessed.
  7. In the Sync Services File Path dialog box, type or browse to the shared folder that all services will access.
Note: This must be a shared path to the folder you created for the Synchronization Service. For example, the SyncService folder.
  8. Click OK.
  9. Right-click the grid, then click Add Service.
  10. In the Service Name box, type a name for this service (for example, the name of the computer the service is installed on).
Note: Once created, the service name cannot be edited in the profile.
  11. In the Service Machine box, browse to the computer where the Synchronization Service is running.
  12. In the Service Port box, type the port number on which the Synchronization Service communicates with the Monitor Console.
Note: The default port is 8950.
  13. In the Clear History after list, select the number of days after which history data is deleted.
  14. Select or clear the appropriate check boxes in the NT Log Level area.
Note: Suggested log level for normal operation is Errors and Warnings. Information should only be enabled when troubleshooting synchronization issues.
  15. Right-click the Jobs grid and click Add Job.
  16. Configure the job as appropriate:
    • Job Name - type a name for the job.
    • Database - select the database on which the job will run.
    • SyncServer - select the Synchronization Server for which this job is run.
    • Sync Data - select the type of processing you want to perform:
      • Sync All (Default) applies network and remote transactions, sends remote changes, runs subscription rules and sends new accounts, and runs any pending agents.
      • Sync Updates Only applies network and remote transactions and sends remote changes.
  1. Select or clear the Enabled check box to activate or deactivate the job.
  2. In the Run on check boxes, select the days when this job will run.
  3. In the Daily Schedule area, select an option that runs the job once a day or multiple times on the selected day(s).
Note: The time values selected here are for calendar days only. If you set the schedule to run from 4 PM to 4 AM, it will not cross midnight. The job will begin at 4 PM and run until midnight.
  4. Click Apply Job.
Note: Failure to click Apply Job will lose schedule configuration settings and the automation will not run.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Close the Administrator
  7. Launch the Sync Server
  8. Manually run one sync cycle
  9. Start the SalesLogix Sync Service
  10. If using the Monitor Console, create a new server registration to view Sync activity

Re: Problems with SyncService SLX 754

We found it!

The SyncServer had been moved to another machine, also the sync automation file location had changed.

In the registry of the sync server machine, we found this entry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\SalesLogix\Synchronization\Services\SrvcFilePath

This entry still pointed to the old service file location.

We changed it to the new location and now the sync automation works.

Anyway, thanks a lot for your support!
