Office 2013 Home and Business Edition (x32) - Saleslogix v8.0

[ Edited ]

After suffering a complete nightmare for a few days this week - AVOID this edition at all costs.

Causes major issues with mail-merge

"Mail-Merge encountered an error and cannot continue. There was an issue in EditAfter. The document is not associated with an ActiveX document server."

A normal mail-merge (without edit after) works - it's the invocation of Word as the editor post-merge that's the issue. Installing normal Office 2013 Professional Plus (I would expect Standard to work also) solves the issue.

Hello Mike,

Was there an official explenation from Swiftpage?

Possible a defect number?

I think I have the same issue here, only in version 8.1

Maybe there is a solution or a work-around in update 02.

Hi, there was no official explanation (but it did hit the compatibility list (see point 28). Update 02 doesn't fix it either. If you are using the Home & Business (click to run) then you cannot use that with SLX and you need the "full" / downloadable versions. If you see the error reported in my first post (editAfter error) then you do have the issue and I don't know of any work-around except to change version of Office to full standard/pro edition.

Thanks for your reaction.

I will make some test with different version of Office 2013.

At least I know I am not the only one with the issue.

FYI:

Cannot find any restriction notes in the latest compatibility guide, version April 2014 v2.

In the Windows client chatper, Word Processor is Qualified for Office 2013 (32-bit only) for both Version 8.0(6) and 8.1.

Look at very bottom of doc - page 24, item number 28: I believe this is the issue (but well hidden!)

28 Click to Run for Office 2013 /365 is not supported in Saleslogix v8.0.

'Fraid I've not heard of one - not a big enough issue yet I'm guessing.

Thanks Mike, I can tell you it's grown by 3 accounts in the past two weeks though - and that's just my current upgrades. Smiley Happy

The release of XBar is driving some upgrade demand finally.

I have 8.1 and all SNC and Web and Core updates applied for a client, and they are sitll experiencing the issue, unfortunately.
