LAN Architect and Client on same box installs?

Specifically 7.2.2, but in general:

1. Is there an SLX document that says it's OK to install both the Admin Tools (which includes the Architect) and the SLX Client on the same machine? I know what actual practice is, just want to have a document that condones this practice.

2. 7.2.2. Architect, installed on an ADMIN only box, installs SLXControls.ocx v7.2.2.1871 2/12/2008. Client Hot Fix 2 updates this ocx to v7.2.2.1905 3/07/2008. Client Hot Fix 21 updates this ocx to v7.2.2.1942 11/17/2008.

The question is: are we supposed to develop in the Architect on an ADMIN only box using SLXControls.ocx v7.2.2.1871 2/12/2008? And then test on a Client install with SLXControls.ocx v7.2.2.1942 11/17/2008.

And yes, you can get some really bad errors if you mix the two up......

And if you develop in both an ADMIN only AND a Client install with Architect, what about the two different ocx's in the different environments?

Thanks!

Re: LAN 7.2.2 Architect and Client on same box installs?

This has been elevated to a formal Defect. The Admin install only hot fixes for 7.2.X must include any relevant files for use by Architect.exe. In this case (7.2.2. HF 2, 20) the SLXControls.ocx file was updated\included in the Client installs only. Even though the Architect needs the same version as the client base. The ocx file controls are forwards compatible, but not backwards compatible. You can save a plugin with a datagrid in 7.2.2.Hot Fix 20 SLXControls.ocx 1942, but cannot open up the plugin in an Admin only installed Architect which is using SLXControls.ocx 1871.
