I add this as a reference.
We where having issues with a client that had a VMware infrastucture.
The servers were freezing constantly, and our client was thinking the SLX was failing.
I noted a VMtools warning showing up everytime the server freezes. Disabled the VMtools service on all servers, and then stopped freezing.
The problem not necesarily resides on VMtools, but i am now sure it is related to the VMware infrastructure. Maybe a non patched system, maybe the VM version, who knows...

We have never had any trouble w/VMWare w/SLX - been using it for years for our customers and our own dev environment.
I'd strongly suggest looking at memory allotment/allocation - real physical memory.

In our case, the problem sovled inmediately after disabling the VMTools.
The error that was freezing servers was: Failed registration of app type 2.

VM tools are always on in our VM's.. never have seen the problem and been using vmware technology for at least 8 years or so w/slx.
Sounds like something else is at theroot of the problem.

When freezing the web server is showing the "W-CBMediator request timed out" event.
Both the web and app server are virtuals, and both in the same host.
But it was curious that the day the services was failing to stay working for more than 2 mintues, the solution was to turn off the VMtools service. Inmediately everything worked good.
