Hi All,
This one is for all the SalesLogix veterans out there.
Have any of you ever known the standard SLX Resource tab to grey out when a Resource is in use to prevent other users double booking it when creating an Activity? We have a customer who has 3 users who are convinced this used to happen. I have tested this from v6.2 to v7.5.4 and I cannot replicate it at all. As far as I’m aware and can see you are only prompted that the Resource is in use.
Our customer is running SLX in LAN based environment and are currently running v.7.5.3 (We implemented v.7.0 initially)
Any clarification to back this up would be appreciated.

Adam,
AFAIK - Nope.. only the action/warning that mention.... In what version did the customer believe it happened (greyed out)?

I actually thought there was a free busy calendar view on the activity resource tab.....showed when a room or projector was in use and by which user.....
Of course, the bigger question for this 15+ year SLX Vet: What is a Resource? (along with what is a Site?). We just don't use this stuff (like Address.Type....)....

Hi RJ,
Many thanks for clarifying this. The version they are currently running is v.7.5.3

It does, and that is a sore subject at this site.
Thanks again for your input guys! Much appreciated

Yep.. it's an extremely archaic and narrow view to assume everyone runs MS Exchange. .. and on premise.
One of our customers is google and google apps based, another uses a *nix based email server, etc. The only thing that tends to be constant is Outlook.. and that's not a good assumption to make either with web based email.
Sage SalesLogix needs to "open" all the interfaces and expose API's based on accepted standards ("iCal", etc) for LAN, Web, mobile, etc so that we can deliver what the customer needs and requires... and this is not a 5-year plan issue.. it's something that needed to be done yeaterday.
NOTE: Not an issue restricted to Sage SalesLogix.. not a lot of others do well here either.. and it's a big shame.. since email is how 99% of business is run.

Am guessing that the free busy resources is not fixed in B8 either......there were supposed to be some calendar enhancements there....
