I have an SLX 7.5.1 environment with a live, dev and test database. Each DB has a deployed virtual dirctory that you can log into the SLX web client with successfully.
If I open the AA for any of the databases and go to the Project Explorer - expand Entity Model there are no items in any of the folders (Packages, Relationships, Code Templates, Forms) so I cannot access anything to make any changes.
Any ideas how I can get to these or where something has gone wrong?

In sounds like
1) You are not running AA on the machine that was used to deploy the sites.
2) The locally saved VFS, while deployed to IIS, was not copied into the SLX Database.
You'll need to obtain project backups from the machine used to deploy the sites, or that installation of AA should copy the VFS into the database where other installations of AA can access it.

AS it was said, it seems that the folders are missing in your VFS or LFS.
We had this happening in our environement one time.
We restored a project backup and everything was fine.

Thanks, I have only just started at this site and nobody seems to know where the original deployment was done or if/where any project backups might be. Is there any way of extracting the VFS from the DB or something similar?
I don't really want to have to re-install vanilla and then try and patch in all the customisation bundles, a: I don't know what order they were applied in and b: I'm not sure if we have them all?

If you connect to the database (or a test database) in AA, you might find it there IF the last developer did there work there, or copied their customized VFS into the database. If not, the first place I'd look is on the IIS server.
If it's not there, it might be possible to reconstruct the VFS from the IIS Inetpub folder. Is this possible or has anyone tried it?

You can do a deploy w/the OOTB and compare the two sites.
The BIG problem is the code that ends up in the dll's.
Why can't you just ask the BP what they did? After all it is YOUR SalesLogix implementation.

Thanks RJ, looks like that's my only option then.
What is the easiest way to compare the sites? And also what would be the imact on the dlls?

Quite a few of us use a tool called "Beyond Compare" (http://www.scootersoftware.com/) and have for years (works w/the Windows Architect to compare VBscript plugins ;-). There are others out there.. some free. However, BC in not expensive and does a great job. You can get a 30 day free trial.
All the business "rules" get compiled into the dll world. So any custom rules would be there along w/the OOTB rules.
